Which company size is Norton Small Business Premium suitable for?

This is a product for very small teams where one person owns the Norton account and every colleague installs the agent on their own device. As soon as an organisation has to prove centrally that protection was active, or has to enforce a uniform policy, the missing console becomes the deciding factor rather than the protection quality.

Does Norton Small Business Premium meet the requirements of Swiss cybersecurity legislation?

The Swiss reporting obligation applies to operators of critical infrastructure, not to every company in Switzerland. Since 1 April 2025 the revised Information Security Act requires those operators to report a cyberattack to the Federal Office for Cybersecurity (BACS) within 24 hours of discovery, with a further 14 days to complete the report, and since 1 October 2025 a missed report can be fined. Norton Small Business Premium supports only the detection end of that duty: the agent raises an alert on the affected device and the account owner can see that device in the Norton account. It does not produce the central incident timeline, retained logs or exportable reporting that a 24-hour report is built from, so the facts have to be gathered device by device under time pressure. It also covers none of the organisational preparation, such as naming a responsible person or rehearsing the reporting route. Does Norton Small Business Premium meet the requirements of European cybersecurity legislation?

No security product creates compliance on its own, because the obligations attach to the organisation and its processes. The NIS 2 Directive requires essential and important entities in the covered sectors to implement risk management measures spanning incident handling, business continuity and backup, supply chain security, basic cyber hygiene, access control and multi-factor authentication, alongside a reporting duty. Norton Small Business Premium contributes to a narrow slice of that: malware protection and host firewall on endpoints for basic hygiene, Cloud Backup on Windows PCs for the backup element, and Password Manager for credential handling. It does not provide multi-factor authentication for business applications, centralised access control, log retention, incident handling workflows or supplier risk assessment. Organisations in scope will need separate tooling and documented processes for those areas, because this product addresses the endpoint layer only.

Does Norton Small Business Premium help with security questionnaires from large customers?

Partly, and almost entirely on the endpoint questions. It lets you answer yes to items such as whether malware protection runs on all workstations, whether mobile devices are protected, whether a host firewall is active, whether business files are copied off-site, and whether staff use a password manager. It does not answer the items that large customers weight most heavily: centrally enforced security policies, evidence that protection was active on a given date, log retention and export, multi-factor authentication for business applications, protection for servers and mailboxes, and a documented incident response process. Because there is no central reporting, you cannot produce a coverage report as evidence and would be attaching per-device screenshots instead. If questionnaire gaps are holding up a contract, moving to a business endpoint suite that includes a management console from one vendor is normally cheaper and faster than bolting a separate console, an MFA service and a reporting tool onto this product.

What is the difference between Norton Small Business and Norton Small Business Premium?

The single most decisive difference is that Norton VPN is included in the Premium plan and not in the standard plan. Beyond that, Premium doubles the Cloud Backup allowance from 250 GB to 500 GB and adds Driver Updater. The remaining Premium additions are the ones a Swiss or EU buyer should look at closely, because Norton documents three of them as being offered in the US and UK only. Neither plan includes a central management console, so upgrading to Premium does not change how the product is administered.

Which limitations should you know before buying?

The most important limitation for buyers in Switzerland and the European Union is regional availability: Norton documents Norton Small Business as being offered only in the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Japan and some Latin American countries, so a Swiss or EU business should confirm that the plan can be activated and supported for its own region before committing. Three of the features that define the Premium plan, namely 24/7 Business Tech Support, Financial Monitoring and Social Media Monitoring, are documented as available in the US and UK only, which removes much of the practical gap between Premium and the standard plan for European buyers. Platform coverage is uneven as well: Cloud Backup, Software Updater, Utilities Ultimate and Driver Updater are Windows-only features, Cloud Backup and SafeCam are not supported on Mac, and the firewall is not available on Android. There is no protection for Windows Server, Linux or hosted mailboxes, which is the most frequent reason buyers in this category end up making a follow-up purchase within the first year. Cloud Backup and Dark Web Monitoring are available to the Norton Small Business account owner only. Employees receive Device Security, Password Manager, Secure Browser, Norton VPN, Software Updater and Utilities Ultimate, and Norton notes that some firewall, antivirus and product settings can appear disabled on employee devices by design.

Is Norton Small Business Premium a base plan, an add-on or a renewal?
