What are the main benefits of Trend Micro Worry-Free Business Security 10 Standard?

Trend Micro Worry-Free Business Security 10 Standard is the entry edition of the on-premises Worry-Free line for small businesses, today marketed under the TrendAI brand. All protection is managed centrally from a Security Server that you install on one of your own Windows machines, not from a vendor-hosted cloud console.

Logs stay on-site – Detection logs and the policy database are stored on your own Security Server.
Mac endpoints included – The Trend Micro Security for Mac plug-in reports to the same console.
Flexible agent rollout – Remote install, login script, MSI package or Vulnerability Scanner deployment.
Group-based policies – Separate desktop and server groups with replicable, exportable settings.
Bandwidth-saving smart scan – A local Scan Server answers agent queries instead of full pattern downloads.
Scheduled reports – One-time and scheduled threat reports plus email notifications for defined events.

Which company size is Trend Micro Worry-Free Business Security 10 Standard suitable for?

Worry-Free Business Security 10 Standard is built for small offices that run their own Windows server and want central antivirus control without a dedicated security team. Service providers can connect the Security Server to TrendAI Remote Manager to supervise several customer installations from one place. Medium-sized companies usually reach its limits once customers or auditors ask for detection and response, patch evidence or encrypted notebooks, and large companies generally need a platform with EDR and longer telemetry retention.

Does Trend Micro Worry-Free Business Security 10 Standard meet the requirements of Swiss cybersecurity legislation?

Since 1 April 2025, the revised Information Security Act obliges operators of critical infrastructure, for example in energy, healthcare, finance, transport and telecommunications, to report cyberattacks to the Federal Office for Cybersecurity (BACS) within 24 hours of discovery; most small businesses outside these sectors are not directly covered. Where the obligation applies, Worry-Free Business Security 10 Standard helps you notice an incident quickly, because agents report detections to the Security Server in real time and email notifications and log queries show which endpoint was affected and when. It does not provide the root-cause analysis, attack timeline or telemetry retention of an EDR product, so on its own it cannot explain how an attacker got in or which other systems were touched. Filing the report, internal escalation and incident documentation remain organisational tasks that no endpoint product performs for you. This information is general guidance and does not replace legal advice for your specific situation.

Does Trend Micro Worry-Free Business Security 10 Standard meet the requirements of European cybersecurity legislation?

No security product makes an organisation compliant with the NIS 2 Directive, which requires essential and important entities to implement risk-management measures and to report significant incidents. The directive's measure catalogue covers, among others, risk analysis, incident handling, business continuity and backup, supply-chain security, vulnerability handling, basic cyber hygiene and training, cryptography and encryption, access control and multi-factor authentication. Worry-Free Business Security 10 Standard supports incident handling through malware detection and central logs, and basic cyber hygiene through web filtering, the agent firewall and device control. It does not cover backup, encryption, multi-factor authentication or patch-based vulnerability handling, and its reports are not designed as evidence for the full measure set. These gaps have to be closed with additional tools and documented processes.

Does Trend Micro Worry-Free Business Security 10 Standard help with security questionnaires from large customers?

Partly: it answers the basic endpoint questions but leaves several standard questionnaire items open. It lets you answer yes to whether all Windows and Mac endpoints run centrally managed anti-malware, whether ransomware protection is active, whether web access is filtered, whether USB storage can be restricted and whether a desktop firewall is enabled, with agent status and scheduled reports from the console as supporting evidence. It does not let you answer yes to EDR or detection-and-response capability, 24/7 monitoring, third-party patch compliance, full-disk encryption of notebooks, multi-factor authentication, email filtering or backups with tested restores. If the open items concern on-premises Exchange, Worry-Free Business Security 10 Advanced from the same family adds mail scanning and anti-spam; for EDR a different product is required, and staying within Trend Micro's current TrendAI portfolio keeps a single vendor relationship instead of adding a second supplier.

What is the difference between Worry-Free Business Security 10 Standard and Worry-Free Business Security 10 Advanced?

The decisive difference is the Messaging Security Agent: Advanced adds protection for on-premises Microsoft Exchange servers, while Standard protects only desktops and servers. With that agent, Advanced scans Exchange mail traffic and adds anti-spam with email reputation, content filtering, email data loss prevention and attachment blocking. Its mobile device access control works only through Exchange 2010 and 2013, and for Exchange 2019 Trend Micro recommends ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange instead. If your mail runs in the cloud rather than on your own Exchange server, the endpoint protection of both editions is identical and Standard is sufficient.

Which limitations should you know before buying?

Trend Micro lists Worry-Free Business Security 10.0 SP1 as end-of-sale in Australia and New Zealand since July 2022, and the Japanese Standard version reached end of life in March 2026, while the English, French, German, Italian and other European language versions remain listed as supported without an announced end date. The Security Agent runs on Windows and, through the plug-in, on macOS, but there is no agent for Linux, no support for ARM-based Windows devices and no protection for iOS or Android phones. Because the Security Server runs on your own hardware, you are responsible for keeping that server online and for installing the product patches Trend Micro publishes, such as the 10.0 SP1 patch series. The follow-up purchases buyers most often need are Exchange protection through the Advanced edition, a separate backup solution, notebook encryption and an EDR product.

Frequently asked questions about Trend Micro Worry-Free Business Security 10 Standard

Is Worry-Free Business Security 10 Standard the same as Worry-Free Business Security Services?

No. Worry-Free Business Security Services is the SaaS version managed from a console hosted by Trend Micro, while the Standard edition uses a Security Server that you install and operate on-site.

Should Microsoft Defender stay enabled on servers?

Trend Micro recommends disabling Windows Defender on Windows Server 2016 and later before installing the Security Agent, because running both can cause performance problems. During installation, setup also detects many other security products and can remove them automatically.

Can branch offices with slow or restricted internet be protected?

Yes. Client Packager builds installation and update packages that can be distributed offline, and designated Update Agents redistribute pattern updates inside a remote office so that not every endpoint downloads them separately.
