What does Corel VideoStudio 2023 Pro do?

Corel VideoStudio 2023 Pro is a Windows application for editing video on a timeline or storyboard and exporting it to files, online platforms, or disc. It covers the full path from capture to output: MultiCam Capture 2.0 Lite records your screen and webcam at the same time, the editor handles trimming, color correction, lens correction, titles, and transitions, and MyDVD burns DVD or AVCHD discs with menus and chapters. Finished projects can be uploaded directly to YouTube or Vimeo. In practice, this means a tutorial, a family event, or a product demo can be recorded, edited, captioned, and published without switching between separate programs.

What is new in VideoStudio 2023 Pro compared with earlier versions?

The 2023 release focuses on title animation, transitions, and music. Titles can now have separate Enter, Middle, and Exit motions, Merged Title editing assigns different movement to individual title components, and new Parallax and Kinetic title effects are added, alongside new Parallax, Split, and Instant Color Change transitions. More than 500 songs were added to the ScoreFitter royalty-free music library, 8K video can now be imported, and the subtitle editor gained hotkeys that move captions up to 10 frames in either direction plus support for the YouTube .SBV subtitle format. Note that two headline 2023 additions, Audio Cues for cutting to the beat and AV1 decode/encode, are reserved for VideoStudio Ultimate 2023 and are not part of the Pro edition.

What is the difference between VideoStudio 2023 Pro and VideoStudio 2023 Ultimate?

Both editions share the same editing core, including 50 video tracks, Speech to Text, Face Effects, AR Stickers, 360° editing, and the 2023 title and transition effects. Ultimate adds advanced correction and compositing tools: Color Grading with video scopes, Mask Creator for object removal and sky replacement, the 3D Title Editor, AI-based Face Indexing, Audio Cues, and the Split Screen Template Creator. Ultimate also bundles premium effect plugins from NewBlueFX and proDAD, including proDAD Mercalli for advanced stabilization, while Pro offers basic stabilization only. If your footage is mostly shot on a phone or action camera and needs cutting, titles, and music rather than cinematic color work, Pro covers the job; if you plan to grade footage or mask objects, Ultimate is the more suitable edition.

What limitations should I know about before buying VideoStudio 2023 Pro?

VideoStudio 2023 Pro runs only on 64-bit Windows (Windows 11, 10, or 8); there is no macOS version, so Mac users need a different editor. Within the product family, Pro lacks Color Grading, Mask Creator, the 3D Title Editor, Face Indexing, Audio Cues, AV1 support, and the NewBlueFX and proDAD effect collections, and Corel lists XAVC, MXF, and PCM 5.1-channel audio as extra formats available in Ultimate. Smart Proxy editing supports Apple ProRes, but proxy quality is limited to 4:2:2 8-bit, which matters only if you rely on proxies for color-critical review. HEVC (H.265) footage requires Windows 10 or 11, suitable hardware, and the Microsoft HEVC Video Extension installed, which is worth checking first if your phone records in HEVC by default.

Which file formats does VideoStudio 2023 Pro import and export?

On import, VideoStudio 2023 Pro reads common camera and phone formats including AVCHD (M2T/MTS), MP4 and MOV with H.264 or HEVC, MKV, AVI, WebM, WMV, XAVC S, 3GP, and non-encrypted DVD titles, plus equirectangular, single fisheye, and dual fisheye 360° video. Export options include MPEG-4 (H.264/HEVC), MOV, AVI, WMV, WebM, XAVC S, GIF89a, and audio-only M4A, OGG, WAV, or WMA. CineForm alpha channel video can be imported and exported, so transparent lower thirds or overlays can be passed to or from other tools. Camera RAW stills are listed as an import format for slideshows and photo montages, but the product pages describe no dedicated RAW development workspace, so RAW adjustments are better done in a photo editor beforehand.

How does VideoStudio 2023 Pro help with tutorials and screen recordings?

The included MultiCam Capture 2.0 Lite records your screen and webcam simultaneously, or two screens at once, and both recordings can then be synchronized in the MultiCam Editor. In Pro, the MultiCam Editor combines up to four angles, so a software walkthrough can switch between screen, face camera, and a close-up of the keyboard during playback. Speech to Text then converts the narration into captions that can be corrected in the Subtitle Editor, and Audio Ducking automatically lowers background music when narration is detected. For people producing training videos or YouTube how-tos, this removes the need for a separate screen recorder and captioning service.

Is VideoStudio 2023 Pro available in German, French, or other languages?

Yes, Corel lists eight supported interface languages for VideoStudio 2023: English, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese. Spanish, Portuguese, and Polish are not on the official list, so users who need an interface in those languages should consider this before buying. The subtitle tools work with the text you type or generate, and the .SBV YouTube subtitle format is supported for multilingual caption workflows.
