Flip PDF is a Windows program from FlipBuilder that converts a finished PDF into an HTML5 flipbook with page-turn animation, a toolbar and a bookmark panel. It is a publishing and presentation tool, not a PDF editor.
No coding needed – Import a PDF, pick a template, publish.
Offline distribution – EXE, ZIP and FBR work without internet.
Own server control – Publishes directly to your FTP or website.
Brand consistency – Add logo, colours and background to every book.
Reader analytics – Google Analytics 4 tracks each flipbook page.
Royalty-free output – Published flipbooks may be used commercially.
Flip PDF takes an existing PDF and builds an HTML5 flipbook around it, without altering the source file. During import it carries over the PDF's bookmarks, hyperlinks and text layer, so a reader opening a long product catalogue can jump straight to a chapter from the bookmark panel and use the built-in search instead of scrolling. The same project can then be published as HTML for a website, EXE for a Windows recipient, Mac App for macOS, ZIP or FBR for email, or burned to CD for an exhibition stand. Layout, fonts and images stay exactly as they were exported from InDesign, Word or Illustrator.
It fits teams that already produce finished print-quality PDFs and need a browser-readable version of them without rebuilding the layout in a web tool. A marketing department republishing a seasonal catalogue, an association sending out a member magazine, or a school distributing a course booklet can reuse the print file directly and still get search, bookmarks and mobile viewing. The interface ships in eleven languages, including Arabic, and the reading direction can be set right-to-left, so bilingual publishers do not need a separate product for RTL editions. Where it does not fit is any workflow that needs the document itself corrected, signed or made searchable from a scan.
No. Flip PDF has no text editing, no OCR, no redaction and no e-signature function; it reads a PDF and wraps a presentation layer around it. Search inside the flipbook only works if the source PDF already contains a text layer, so a brochure scanned as images will display correctly but return zero search results. If contracts have to be signed or wording corrected, a PDF editor still has to sit alongside Flip PDF in the toolchain. The practical split is simple: the editor produces the final PDF, Flip PDF publishes it.
The dividing line is the Page Editor. Flip PDF Professional adds page-level editing for embedding local and YouTube video, audio, image slideshows, buttons and shapes into individual flipbook pages, plus a command line version and shopping items for selling from a page. Flip PDF itself covers import, templates, branding and all output formats, which is enough for a catalogue or magazine that only has to be read. Choose Professional when pages must carry playable media, or when conversion has to run unattended from a script rather than through the desktop window.

The HTML output opens in a normal browser on PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone or Android with no plugin and no reader software. For offline delivery there are three separate routes: EXE for Windows machines, Mac App for macOS, and the FBR format read with the free Flip Reader. Inside the book, readers can double-click to zoom, add annotation text or shapes, print a selected page range and share the link by email or social network. Printing, downloading and sharing can each be switched off in the toolbar permissions before publishing, which matters for price lists or internal documents.
Two points decide most cases: hosting and scans. FlipBuilder's Hosting Add-on Service is not part of the software and is billed separately, with pay-as-you-go points costing roughly US$1.10 or less to keep one book online for one month, so anyone with their own web space should publish by FTP or upload the HTML output instead. The second point is OCR: scanned PDFs have to be processed by separate OCR software before import, otherwise the flipbook is a picture book with no working search. It is also worth knowing that FlipBuilder's current range is Flip PDF Plus, Plus Pro and Plus Corporate, and that the Mac program is a separate edition, Flip PDF For Mac.
Yes. FlipBuilder states that page-flipping eBooks produced with Flip PDF are royalty-free and can be used for commercial or personal purposes with no further payment. There is also no cap on how many PDFs you convert or how many books you create.
Yes. Flip PDF can publish the book directly as a WordPress plugin, and also as a Joomla module or a Drupal module for those systems. For any other CMS, the standard HTML output can be uploaded by FTP and embedded on a page.
Yes. Flip PDF is distributed on a try-before-you-buy basis and the unregistered version stamps a demo watermark on every generated flipbook. The registered version produces clean output with all features already visible during the trial.
Yes. A password can be set for an online page-flipping book, and the EXE output has advanced settings that add a password with an optional expiry date. Combined with the toolbar permissions for downloading and printing, this is enough to circulate a price list or internal handbook without publishing it openly.
