Who is EaseUS OS2Go best suited for?

A technician can boot a working Windows from the USB drive on a client computer whose internal system is damaged, then run diagnostics or copy files off the internal disk without altering it. Can EaseUS OS2Go run Windows on a Mac?

The portable Windows drive boots on Intel-based Macs, but not on Apple Silicon Macs with M1, M2, M3 or M4 chips. Apple Silicon uses an ARM architecture that cannot run standard x64 Windows from an external drive, so the USB will not boot on those models. The practical difference is the licensed usage model: Professional covers personal use on non-server systems, while Technician adds rights for independent service-provider and commercial work. If you create portable drives as a paid service for clients, or you need to deploy on Windows Server systems, Professional is not licensed for that and you need Technician. For a single personal user making drives for their own machines, Professional is enough.

What technical limitations should users know before buying?

EaseUS OS2Go builds Windows To Go only by cloning a live system or from a Windows ISO file; it does not create a portable drive from WIM, ESD or VHD(X) image files, and it has no built-in BitLocker encryption for the portable drive. Boot reliability also depends on hardware: a USB 3.0 stick or external SSD is recommended, because a slow drive makes the portable Windows sluggish in use. The portable drive and the target computer must use the same boot mode — both UEFI or both Legacy BIOS — or the machine may refuse to start it. Checking these points first prevents a finished drive that will not boot on the computer you meant to use.

Can EaseUS OS2Go boot a PC that won't start?

Yes. If a computer's internal Windows is corrupted and will not start, you can boot OS2Go's portable Windows from USB on that machine and copy important files off the internal disk or run repair tools, without reinstalling the operating system. Does creating a portable drive erase the USB drive?

Yes. OS2Go formats the target drive during creation, so any existing data on that USB stick or external disk is erased — back up its contents first. The Windows system you are cloning from is not touched; only the destination drive is overwritten.

What size USB drive does EaseUS OS2Go need?

The target drive must be larger than the used space on your current system drive, and a 64 GB or larger drive is the practical minimum for a portable Windows 11 or Windows 10 environment.
