What are the main benefits of Adobe Acrobat Pro MAC Lifetime?

Searchable Scans – Scanned contracts and invoices become searchable inside Acrobat.
Fillable Forms – Build fillable forms from Word files or scanned paper.

What does Adobe Acrobat Pro MAC Lifetime do?

It is a desktop PDF application for macOS that creates, edits, converts, signs and secures PDF files locally on your Mac. You can change text and images in an existing PDF, reorder or delete pages, and export a PDF back to Word, Excel or PowerPoint when a supplier sends a contract you need to rework. Scanned documents can be run through OCR so the text becomes searchable and editable instead of remaining a flat image. As the Pro edition, it also includes redaction, preflight checks for print output and accessibility validation, which Acrobat Standard does not offer.

Which Acrobat version is included, and how does it differ from Acrobat Pro 2024 and the subscription?

This product is the perpetual Acrobat Pro 2020 release for macOS from Adobe's non-subscription desktop track. Like Acrobat Pro 2024, it runs only as a desktop application and receives no new features; only the Acrobat Pro subscription adds new tools, web and mobile editing, and access to the AI Assistant add-on. Adobe ended support for Acrobat 2020 on November 30, 2025, so it no longer receives security or bug-fix updates, while Acrobat Pro 2024 is still maintained. The table shows the verified differences within the Acrobat Pro family.

Which features are not included in Adobe Acrobat Pro MAC Lifetime?

The AI Assistant, sending documents for signature with delivery tracking, and Acrobat's web and mobile editing tools are not included, because Adobe reserves them for the subscription. Acrobat 2020 never received new or enhanced features, and since Adobe's end of support on November 30, 2025, it also receives no further security patches. In daily work, this means the feature set you install is the feature set you keep. If your team runs contract signing through Adobe Acrobat Sign or wants AI summaries of long PDFs, a subscription is the better fit; for local editing, OCR and redaction, the desktop tools cover the job.

Does Adobe Acrobat Pro MAC Lifetime run on Windows or on Apple Silicon Macs?

No, this is the macOS version only; Adobe ships Acrobat 2020 as separate Mac and Windows products, so the Mac release does not install on a Windows PC. The supported range for this product covers macOS 10.15 Catalina to macOS 14 Sonoma, on both Intel Macs and Apple Silicon M1 and M2 models. Newer releases such as macOS 15 Sequoia are not in that range, and because Adobe no longer updates Acrobat 2020, compatibility fixes for future macOS versions should not be expected. Check your version under Apple menu > About This Mac before buying.

Who is Adobe Acrobat Pro MAC Lifetime best suited for?

It suits Mac users who work with PDFs on the desktop and want Acrobat Pro's editing tools without an ongoing subscription. A law office or HR team can use redaction to permanently remove names, account numbers and hidden metadata before a file goes out, which a black shape drawn over text does not do, because the original text stays underneath. Print-oriented users benefit from preflight with GWG 2015 profiles, which catches font and colour problems before a print shop rejects a file. Teams that depend on cloud sharing, mobile editing or tracked e-signatures will find the desktop-only design limiting.

What should you check before choosing Adobe Acrobat Pro MAC Lifetime?

Check three points: your macOS version, whether you need subscription-only services, and how much you rely on ongoing security updates. Supported systems end at macOS 14, and Adobe stopped all updates for Acrobat 2020 on November 30, 2025, which matters most if you open PDFs from unknown senders every day. Acrobat Pro 2020 is also the only Acrobat 2020 edition for Mac, because Adobe released Acrobat Standard 2020 for Windows only. If you mainly edit, convert, OCR and redact your own documents offline, the Pro desktop feature set covers those tasks completely.

Frequently asked questions about Adobe Acrobat Pro MAC Lifetime

Can Adobe Acrobat Pro MAC Lifetime check PDFs for accessibility?

Yes, the Pro edition includes accessibility checking and PDF/UA validation in Preflight. This helps public-sector teams and publishers find missing tags or reading-order problems before a document is published.

Can it open PDFs protected with Microsoft Information Protection?

Yes, Acrobat 2020 opens PDFs protected with Microsoft Information Protection or Azure Information Protection once you install the plug-in that Acrobat prompts for. This matters in companies that label confidential files in Microsoft 365, because Mac users cannot otherwise open those documents.
