It combines drive imaging, partition management, operating-system migration and secure disk wiping in one Windows interface. Backups can be saved as virtual containers in pVHD, VHD, VHDX or VMDK format, with full, incremental and differential images to keep storage use down. The embedded Recovery Media Builder 3.0 creates WinPE-based bootable media, so you can restore a machine that no longer starts. In practice this lets you recover a failed boot drive, move an installed system to a new SSD, or reclaim wasted space without reinstalling Windows.
It fits home users and self-employed professionals who maintain their own Windows PCs and want one tool instead of separate backup, cloning and partitioning apps. The Professional edition adds scripting and file-exclusion filters, which let a power user automate a repeated nightly image job and skip large temporary folders to keep the archive small. ConnectVD also lets users who run virtual machines manage a virtual disk as if it were a normal physical drive. Buyers who need to protect Windows Server systems are not the target audience, since that requires the separate Business edition.
All three editions share the core backup, partitioning, migration and wiping engine; the higher tiers mainly add virtualization and advanced file-system tools. Professional adds scripting, file-exclusion filters, ConnectVD virtual-disk editing and Hyper-V guest backup, while Premium goes further with HFS+ handling and backup of BitLocker-protected volumes. None of these consumer editions can protect a Windows Server operating system.

The biggest limit is that the Suite, Professional and Premium editions do not back up or manage Windows Server operating systems; server protection and technician licensing only come with the separate Business edition. HFS+ access is limited, and only the Premium edition can resize and convert HFS+ volumes, with non-Roman characters in HFS+ not supported in this generation. The built-in Boot Manager for switching between several installed operating systems works on 32-bit systems only. Adaptive Restore, which boots a backup on different hardware, officially covers Windows versions from 2000 up to 8.1, so very recent Windows builds should be tested before relying on it.
It writes backups to virtual containers in pVHD, VHD, VHDX and VMDK format, supporting full, incremental and differential images. For moving systems it offers P2V copy, P2V restore and P2V adjust, plus V2V and V2P migration, so you can shift a Windows install between physical and virtual environments. Adaptive Restore injects the drivers needed to boot a restored image on dissimilar hardware, and the partitioning engine can convert disks between MBR and GPT. On the file-system side it gives read and write access to FAT16/FAT32, NTFS, Ext2/3/4 and ReFS, with limited access to Apple HFS+.
Yes, but only in the Premium edition, which can protect physical and virtual Windows environments even when the volume is encrypted with BitLocker and adds AES support for backups. The Suite and Professional editions do not list BitLocker handling, so encrypted-drive owners should choose Premium specifically.
Yes. The disk wiper includes ten erasure methods, among them the US DoD 5220.22-M standard, Gutmann, Schneier and GOST R 50739-95, and it can wipe SSDs without shortening their service life.
