Which platforms and devices does NordLocker support?

NordLocker runs on Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android, plus browser-based Web Access that needs no install. There is no native Linux app, so Linux users cannot open lockers directly on the desktop. Cloud lockers sync automatically across every signed-in device, while local lockers stay only on the machine that created them. For a mixed Windows and Mac household or a phone-plus-laptop setup, this means the same encrypted files follow you between devices without leaving unencrypted copies behind.

Does NordLocker include a VPN or password manager?

No. NordLocker only handles encrypted storage and file encryption; the VPN is a separate product (NordVPN) and the password manager is a separate product (NordPass). Buyers coming from the Nord brand often assume these are bundled, but each is licensed on its own. A NordVPN subscription does not grant paid NordLocker storage, though Complete and Ultra bundles add a fixed cloud allowance. Can NordLocker back up my files and protect them if a device is lost?

Yes. Files placed in a cloud locker are stored in encrypted form, so if your device is lost, stolen, or damaged, those copies remain accessible from another signed-in device. How does NordLocker Personal differ from NordLocker Business?

Both editions use the same zero-knowledge encryption and app lineup, but Business adds central administration built for teams. Personal plans are meant for individual use; team and company deployment, per-user management, and real-time usage monitoring belong to NordLocker Business, which is priced per user.

What limitations should users know before choosing NordLocker?

NordLocker personal plans do not keep file version history, so an overwritten or deleted file cannot be rolled back to an earlier state. It also has no built-in document editing and no in-app video preview — videos must be downloaded before they play — which rules it out as a productivity suite. Secure file sharing is reserved for paid plans, so the free 3 GB tier covers encryption and storage only. What happens if I forget my NordLocker password?

Because of zero-knowledge architecture, NordLocker never stores your master password and cannot reset it for you. Your Cloud Recovery Key is the only way back into your account, so save it somewhere safe when you set up the app.

Can I encrypt files without an internet connection?

Yes. Local lockers stay on your device and let you encrypt files offline, with no cap beyond your own disk space. Cloud syncing and cross-device access require a connection, and files kept only in a local locker are not backed up elsewhere.
