What are the main benefits of ACDSee Photo Studio for Mac 10?

ACDSee Photo Studio for Mac 10 is a macOS application that combines digital asset management with a non-destructive RAW developer. It works directly on the folders already on your drives, so organizing and editing start without a lengthy catalog import.

Faster face tagging – Confirm or reject AI name suggestions in batches.
Cleaner browsing – Media Mode hides uncataloged folders and filesystem clutter.
Lightroom face data – Imports existing Lightroom and Picasa face tags directly.
Targeted color work – Color Wheel and Tone Wheels adjust selected ranges.
Batch output tools – Watermarks, borders, renaming, and conversion across many files.
Native on Apple silicon – Universal app runs natively on M-series and Intel Macs.

What does ACDSee Photo Studio for Mac 10 do?

ACDSee Photo Studio for Mac 10 organizes large photo collections and develops RAW and standard image files non-destructively on macOS. Its Manage mode reads the folders on your Mac, connected USB devices, and network shares directly, so you can rate, label, keyword, and geotag images without importing them first. Develop mode then applies exposure, Light EQ, color, sharpening, and repair adjustments while keeping the original file untouched. Location data can be written to IPTC fields from the Map pane, and up to four images can be compared side by side when culling a shoot.

What is new in version 10 compared with Photo Studio for Mac 9?

Version 10, first released in November 2023, adds two new modes: People Mode and Media Mode. People Mode is a dedicated workspace for naming, renaming, merging, or removing faces, with an AI assistant that groups similar unnamed faces so you can accept or reject suggestions in one pass. Media Mode shows only the folders and files already in the ACDSee database and lets you filter by rating, color label, or date without the full folder tree in the way. For someone tagging years of family photos or recurring event attendees, these two modes remove most of the click-by-click work that version 9 still required.

How does Photo Studio for Mac 10 compare with Mac 11 and Mac 26?

Mac 10 covers the full organizing and RAW editing core, but the AI editing tools arrived in later versions. According to ACDSee's official comparison, Mac 11 added AI subject, sky, background, and object masking, batch AI Super-Resolution, and import of a Lightroom database. Mac 26 then added AI Keywords, batch AI Denoise, AI Presets, and Group By sorting in Manage mode. If your work is mainly cataloging, face tagging, and manual RAW adjustments, Mac 10 covers it; if you expect automatic subject or sky selections, it does not.

Is Photo Studio for Mac 10 the same as ACDSee Photo Studio Home, Professional, or Ultimate?

No, Photo Studio for Mac is a separate product built only for macOS, and its feature set differs from the Windows editions. The Windows editions Home, Professional, and Ultimate do not run on macOS, and Photo Studio for Mac 10 does not run on Windows. The most important practical gap is layered editing: Photo Studio Ultimate for Windows includes a layer-based editor for composites, while the Mac version works with non-destructive Develop adjustments, brushes, and gradients instead of pixel layers. If you need to stack images, add text layers, or build composites, plan to pair Mac 10 with an external editor, which ACDSee lets you set as the default editor.

Which RAW cameras and file formats does Photo Studio for Mac 10 support?

Photo Studio for Mac relies on macOS for RAW decoding, so camera support follows Apple's macOS RAW compatibility list rather than a separate ACDSee camera list. For newly released cameras, check Apple's list before relying on the software for those files. Beyond RAW, version 10 can save in HEIC and writes EXIF, IPTC, and ACDSee metadata directly into the HEIC file instead of a separate XMP sidecar. It also displays Affinity Photo .afphoto files when Affinity Photo is installed, shows PDF thumbnails, and opens videos and office documents in Quick Look. ACDSee lists one known limitation: it cannot read ACDSee metadata embedded in formats such as PSD, GIF, BMP, or TGA.

Can I move from Lightroom or Picasa to Photo Studio for Mac 10?

Yes, partly: version 10 imports face data from Lightroom and Picasa, but not a full Lightroom database. That means people you already named in those programs carry over, and facial recognition then looks for matching faces in your ACDSee database. Importing Lightroom collections, keywords, ratings, and color labels from a Lightroom database was only added in Photo Studio for Mac 11. Because Mac 10 browses your existing folders directly, the photos themselves need no import step, so the main migration work is re-applying ratings and keywords.

Who is Photo Studio for Mac 10 best suited for?

It suits Mac users whose main problem is finding and tidying a large folder-based photo archive, with RAW development as the second step. People Mode makes it practical to name the same family members or event regulars across thousands of images, and multiple databases let you keep separate archives, for example one per client or one for personal photos. The Color Wheel and Tone Wheels give product and portrait photographers precise control over individual color ranges without any AI tools. Photographers who expect one-click subject or sky selection, AI noise removal, or layer-based composites will find those features only in later versions or other software.

What should I check before choosing Photo Studio for Mac 10?

First check your macOS version, because ACDSee officially lists macOS Monterey (12), Ventura (13), and Sonoma (14) for version 10, while newer macOS releases are listed only for later versions. Second, decide whether you need AI masking or AI Denoise, since neither is part of Mac 10. Third, if several people work with the same archive, note that ACDSee states one database cannot be opened by two ACDSee instances at the same time. ACDSee also recommends embedding ACDSee metadata into your files before importing a database from an older version, which protects ratings and keywords during the move.
