Lightroom Migration – Imports collections, keywords, ratings and color labels.
People Mode – AI face naming with batch suggestions and auto advance.
Multiple Databases – Keep clients, work and private libraries strictly separate.

What exactly is ACDSee 365 Mac?

ACDSee 365 Mac is the subscription version of ACDSee Photo Studio for Mac, the only ACDSee photo management and RAW editing application developed for macOS. ACDSee states that its 365 subscriptions always include the most up-to-date product versions, which at present means Photo Studio for Mac 26 with its AI Keywords, AI Denoise and AI Presets. This is different from the broader ACDSee 365 Cloud plan, which bundles Windows applications such as Photo Studio Ultimate, Gemstone Photo Editor and Video Converter Pro alongside the Mac app. If you work only on a Mac, ACDSee 365 Mac covers exactly the part of the ACDSee range you can actually run.

Who is ACDSee 365 Mac best suited for?

It fits Mac photographers who already have years of images spread across internal drives, external disks and network shares and want to organize them where they are. Because Photo Studio for Mac reads folders directly instead of requiring an import, you can start rating and keywording an existing archive in minutes rather than rebuilding a catalog. Users leaving Lightroom benefit from the built-in database import, which carries over collections, keywords, ratings and color labels, plus face data from Lightroom or Picasa. Wedding and event photographers gain practical time savings from People Mode, which suggests names for similar unnamed faces and jumps to the next face as soon as you confirm one.

Does ACDSee 365 Mac include a layered editor or the Windows ACDSee programs?

No, ACDSee 365 Mac contains only Photo Studio for Mac, and this application has no layer-based editing. ACDSee's layered editing is found in Photo Studio Ultimate and Gemstone Photo Editor, which are part of the ACDSee 365 Cloud plan, not of this Mac product. Photo Studio for Mac focuses on non-destructive development: adjustments, brushes, gradients and AI masks are stored as edit settings while the original file stays unchanged. For composites or text overlays, you can register an external editor of your choice and open images in it directly from ACDSee, and the app can display Affinity Photo's .afphoto format when Affinity Photo is installed.

Which AI features are included, and do they require credits?

Photo Studio for Mac 26 includes AI Keywords, AI Denoise with batch processing, Batch AI Super-Resolution, AI Presets and non-destructive AI masks for subject, background, sky and outlined objects. AI Keywords analyzes your library so you can search for content without having tagged a single image, which is useful when a client asks for a specific shot from an untagged archive. ACDSee documents AI credit packs for the generative AI tools in its Windows Photo Studio 2027 editions, while the Mac 26 feature documentation describes no credit system for these tools. AI Presets apply adjustments individually to each image in a batch, so a whole portrait session can receive consistent subject and background corrections in one pass.

How does Photo Studio for Mac 26 differ from earlier Mac versions?

Version 26 adds AI Keywords, Batch AI Denoise, AI Presets and a Group By option in Manage mode to the feature set of Mac 11. Group By sorts the library by camera, capture date, file size, file type, rating, label and other criteria, which helps when a folder mixes images from several bodies or shoots. Mac 11 had already introduced Batch AI Super-Resolution, AI selection masks and the Lightroom database import. Users of older versions can import their previous ACDSee database, and ACDSee recommends embedding ACDSee metadata in the files before doing so.

Which file formats and macOS versions does ACDSee 365 Mac support?

Photo Studio for Mac 26 requires macOS Sonoma 14, Sequoia 15 or Tahoe 26 and runs natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, so older macOS releases are a hard stop. It reads and writes HEIC and stores EXIF, IPTC and ACDSee metadata directly inside HEIC files instead of creating separate XMP sidecar files. Camera RAW files are developed in a non-destructive editor, and ACDSee maintains an official macOS RAW file support list that is worth checking for very new camera models. Videos, PDFs and office documents can be opened via Quick Look from inside ACDSee, and PDFs are shown as thumbnails while browsing.

Can several people work on one shared ACDSee catalog?

No, ACDSee's release notes for Photo Studio for Mac 26 state that multiple clients cannot connect to the same database at the same time. If a second instance tries to open a database that is already in use, ACDSee becomes unresponsive. For a small studio, this means a single catalog on a NAS is not suitable for simultaneous editing by several retouchers. A workable alternative is the built-in support for multiple databases, which lets each user or each client project keep its own catalog while metadata is embedded in the image files themselves.

Is Photo Studio for Mac tied to a specific interface language?

ACDSee distributes Photo Studio for Mac 26 as language-specific builds rather than one multilingual installer. Separate release notes exist for the English, German and French versions, and the official English download is a dedicated English installer file. Before buying, check that the language version you receive matches the interface language you want to work in. This matters most for keyword sets and menu terminology, which are easier to maintain consistently in your own working language.

Frequently asked questions about ACDSee 365 Mac

Can ACDSee 365 Mac edit videos?

No, Photo Studio for Mac manages videos but does not edit them. It catalogs video files, shows 4-frame preview thumbnails and plays them via Quick Look, and the Special Items folder lists all videos in your library.

Does ACDSee 365 Mac work with iCloud Drive?

Yes, iCloud Drive is accessible directly from the Folders pane in Manage mode. ACDSee lists one known limitation: the Find Duplicates tool does not work with files stored on iCloud Drive.

Can I print contact sheets or export images as PDF?

Yes, the print settings let you create contact sheets, export an image as a PDF and save print presets for recurring formats. Watermarks and borders can also be applied to whole batches before printing or delivery.

Can I import iPhone Live Photos with their video part?

The standard import in Photo Studio for Mac 26 ignores the video portion of Live Photos. ACDSee recommends the free ACDSee Mobile Sync app as the workaround for transferring them from your phone.
