This guide walks you through installing AOMEI Image Deploy (AID) Technician, preparing your image, and deploying it to client PCs over LAN. Each step includes one official manufacturer reference.
1) Confirm prerequisites (server, clients, network)
- Install AID on the server PC. Place clients on the same LAN/subnet.
- Ensure clients support PXE/network boot (enable it in BIOS/UEFI and put Network first in boot order).
- Keep one and only one DHCP server active on the LAN during deployment.
2) Prepare the system image (required)
- On a clean reference PC, use AOMEI Backupper to create a system or disk image (AOMEI
.adi format).
- Store the image on a share/NAS reachable from the AID server.
3) Download & install AID
- Open the official product page and click Download Free Edition or Buy Technician.
- Run the installer on the server PC and follow the wizard to completion.
4) Create the WinPE boot image
- Launch AID and choose Create Windows PE automatically; add drivers if needed.
- Alternatively, create a WinPE ISO manually and point AID to it.
5) DHCP setting (only one server)
In the wizard, tick Enable DHCP only if your LAN has no DHCP service. Ensure there is exactly one DHCP server active to avoid IP conflicts.
6) Start the AID service
Proceed until AID reports “The service has started, waiting for connect…”. This indicates the PXE environment is ready for clients.
7) PXE‑boot the client computers
- On each client, set Network/PXE as the first boot device (BIOS/UEFI).
- Boot clients; they should appear as Connected in AID.
8) Select your backup image (share/NAS)
- In AID, click Browse → Add share or NAS device.
- Select the AOMEI Backupper
.adi image you prepared earlier.
9) Choose targets & destination disk
- Select the client computers to deploy to.
- Set the Destination disk number (e.g., 0 for the first disk), and choose how many clients to deploy concurrently.
10) Technician options (name/IP, Universal Restore)
- Set computer name (auto‑unique names per client).
- Set IP (preset client IP/DNS);
- Universal Restore for dissimilar hardware.
11) Start deployment & monitor
- Click Start Deploy.
- Monitor progress (per‑client percentage) and set post‑action to Restart or Shut down.
12) Post‑deployment checks (boot mode & SID)
- Ensure BIOS boot mode matches disk type: GPT ⇒ UEFI, MBR ⇒ Legacy.
- Avoid duplicate names/IPs on the LAN.
- For domain environments, consider removing SID before imaging or follow AOMEI’s guidance on deploy without SID.
13) Verify Technician vs Free capabilities
Technician edition adds preset computer name & IP, Universal Restore, and unlimited concurrent deployment (vs. Free limits). Confirm your license matches your scale.
Tip: Test on a small batch of machines before rolling out to the entire fleet. Keep a copy of your master image and document BIOS/UEFI boot settings.
