What are the main benefits of ACDSee Photo Studio Professional 2025?

ACDSee Photo Studio Professional 2025 is a Windows application that combines a folder-based photo catalog with a non-destructive RAW developer and a pixel editor. It sits between Photo Studio Home and Photo Studio Ultimate in the ACDSee lineup.

No Import Step – Works on existing folders without building a catalog first.
Faster Culling – Tabs plus background Activity Manager keep work moving.
Precise Local Edits – Roughly outline an object; AI builds the precise mask.
Private AI Processing – AI features run locally; photos never leave your PC.
Photomerge Included – Panorama, HDR and focus stacking directly from Manage mode.
Easy Migration – Imports Lightroom databases and Lightroom or Picasa face data.

What does ACDSee Photo Studio Professional 2025 do?

ACDSee Photo Studio Professional 2025 is a Windows photo manager and RAW editor that covers the full path from browsing a folder to exporting a finished image. Manage mode works directly on your existing folder structure, so you can rate, keyword, rename and batch-resize files without first importing them into a catalog. Develop mode handles non-destructive RAW processing with history and snapshots, while Edit mode adds pixel-level tools such as healing, cloning and selection-based adjustments. Panorama stitching, HDR merging and focus stacking can be started straight from Manage mode, which saves exporting bracketed sets to a separate program.

What is new in ACDSee Photo Studio Professional 2025?

The 2025 release moved many AI tools in Develop and Edit mode from the processor to the graphics card to speed up masking and upscaling. AI Super-Resolution was added for upscaling single images or whole batches from Manage and View mode, which helps when a client wants a large print from a heavily cropped frame. Develop mode gained AI Object Masking plus Color Range and Luminance Range masks, with feathering and shift controls to soften, expand or contract mask edges. On the management side, ACDSee Tabs keep several folders or searches open in one window, and the Activity Manager tracks background jobs such as AI Keywords scanning and face detection while you keep working.

Who is ACDSee Photo Studio Professional 2025 best suited for?

It suits photographers who shoot RAW, keep a large library on local or network drives, and want keyword, face and metadata search in the same program they edit in. An event photographer, for example, can name faces in People Mode, narrow thousands of frames with AND/OR searches on rating and keyword, and then develop the selects without switching applications. Because Develop settings can be copied and pasted onto other images, a consistent look across a whole series takes a few clicks instead of repeating every adjustment. Users who mainly build composites on layers or do intensive portrait retouching are better served by Ultimate, which adds the Layered Editor and AI Face Edit.

What is the difference between ACDSee Photo Studio Home, Professional and Ultimate 2025?

Professional is the middle tier: it adds non-destructive RAW development and Develop-mode AI masking to the cataloging tools found in Home. In the 2025 generation, AI Keywords are not available in Home but are included in Professional and Ultimate. Ultimate builds on Professional with a Layered Editor for compositing and AI Face Edit for adjusting facial features in portraits. All three are Windows applications, and none of them includes a macOS version.

What limitations or missing features should buyers know about before choosing ACDSee Photo Studio Professional 2025?

The most important gap is layered editing: Professional 2025 has no layers or layer masks, so composites and multi-image montages require Ultimate or a separate editor. Several AI tools that ACDSee advertises today arrived in later versions and are not part of 2025, including Batch AI Denoise, one-click AI Hair Masking and AI Develop Presets, which were added in 2026, and the generative AI tools, which were added in 2027. JPEG XL support also only arrived with the 2026 release. AI Super-Resolution has an output limit of 16,000 pixels, and in batch mode the preview shows only the first image, so it is worth checking the results after processing.

Which file formats and cameras does ACDSee Photo Studio Professional 2025 support?

Professional 2025 develops RAW files from a long list of camera models, and ACD Systems adds new bodies through regular build updates. Build 18.1, for example, added RAW support for the Fujifilm X-M5, Sony a1 II and Nikon Z50II, plus High Efficiency mode files from the Nikon Z6III, Z 8, Z 9 and Z f. Beyond RAW, it handles GoPro RAW (.GPR), HEIF/HIF files from iPhones and recent cameras, transparent and animated WEBP, and reads and writes static AVIF files. If you have just bought a new camera, check the official supported RAW formats list for your exact model before relying on it.

Does ACDSee Photo Studio Professional 2025 run on macOS, and is the interface language fixed?

No, Professional 2025 is a native 64-bit Windows application and does not install on macOS. ACD Systems offers ACDSee Photo Studio for Mac as a separate product line with its own feature set and version numbering. The Windows software is also distributed in language-specific builds, such as English, German or French editions, so check that the package language matches the language you or your team work in.

Can I switch from Lightroom to ACDSee Photo Studio Professional 2025?

Yes, and the move is lighter than with catalog-only tools because ACDSee browses your existing folders directly instead of requiring a full import first. Professional 2025 can import a Lightroom database as well as face data from Lightroom and Picasa, so names already assigned to people carry over into People Mode. ACD Systems recommends restarting the program after a Lightroom database import. Two-way embedding between ACDSee metadata and IPTC fields keeps your keywords and categories readable in other applications after the switch.

Frequently asked questions about ACDSee Photo Studio Professional 2025

Are my settings carried over when I upgrade from an older ACDSee version?

If ACDSee Photo Studio Professional 2022 or newer is installed, your options and selected presets are imported automatically on first launch, and custom keyboard shortcuts carry over from Professional 2024. Import only works within the same edition, for example Professional to Professional. Shortcuts for External Editors and for ACDSee Keywords and Categories are not transferred.

Can I send photos from my phone directly into ACDSee?

Yes, the ACDSee Mobile Sync app for iPhone and Android sends photos and videos wirelessly to Photo Studio on your PC. Drag and drop from a connected mobile device works inside ACDSee, but not from the device into Windows Explorer.

Can I keep separate catalogs for different clients or projects?

Yes, you can create as many ACDSee databases as you need and switch between them, for example one per client and one for personal photos. This keeps keywords, categories and face names cleanly separated on the same computer.
