What are the main benefits of ACDSee 365 Silver?

ACDSee 365 Silver delivers ACDSee Photo Studio Professional, a Windows application that combines photo cataloging, non-destructive RAW development and pixel-level retouching in one program. It is aimed at photographers with large local archives who want fast culling and editing without layer-based compositing.

Faster Culling – Auto-Stack groups bursts by time, location or similarity.
Find by Sight – AI Reverse Image Search finds related shots without keywords.
Credit-free AI – Denoise, Super-Resolution and masking run locally on your PC.
No Import Step – Browse and catalog existing folders directly from the drive.
Client Databases – Separate databases keep clients or private work apart.
Background Processing – Exports and conversions run while you keep editing.

What exactly is ACDSee 365 Silver?

ACDSee 365 Silver is the subscription-based retail edition of ACDSee Photo Studio Professional, the middle tier of ACDSee's Windows photo software line. It combines a file browser and catalog, a non-destructive RAW developer and a pixel editor in one program, so culling and finishing happen in the same application. The Professional line is currently at version 2027, which added Auto-Stack, AI Reverse Image Search, the Reject Tag and generative AI tools. ACDSee works directly on your existing folders instead of forcing a separate import step, which matters when an archive already spans several drives.

Who is ACDSee 365 Silver best suited for?

It suits photographers who manage large local archives and process RAW files but do not need Photoshop-style layer compositing. Event, wedding and travel shooters benefit from Auto-Stack, which groups bursts and brackets by capture time, GPS location or visual similarity, and from the Reject Tag, which marks blinks and blurs during review so they can be cleared in one pass. Separate ACDSee databases can be kept per client, or for private and work files on the same PC, without mixing keywords and categories. If your work regularly involves multi-image composites, text layers or blend modes, the Ultimate-based Gold edition is the better fit.

What is the difference between ACDSee 365 Silver, Gold and Platinum?

Silver is based on Photo Studio Professional, Gold on Photo Studio Ultimate, and Platinum bundles Ultimate with further ACDSee applications. The practical dividing line between Silver and Gold is the layered editor: Ultimate adds layers and layer masks for compositing, plus AI Face Edit for portrait retouching. Both share the cataloging tools, RAW development, Photomerge and the locally running AI tools. Platinum adds Gemstone Photo Editor, LUXEA Video Editor and Video Converter Pro 5 for users who also work on graphics or video. If you only catalog, develop and retouch single images, Gold and Platinum mainly add components you would not use.

What limitations should you know before buying ACDSee 365 Silver?

The most important limitation is the missing layered editor: you cannot stack images, text or adjustment layers with layer masks, because this is reserved for the Ultimate-based Gold and Platinum editions. The software runs only on 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11, and Mac users need the separate ACDSee Photo Studio for Mac product. AI Face Edit for reshaping eyes, nose, mouth or jawline is also limited to Ultimate. Generative AI tools work only with an internet connection and consume AI credits, so they are not an unlimited part of the package.

How do the AI features and AI credits work in ACDSee 365 Silver?

Most AI functions run locally on your PC and never use credits, including AI Denoise, AI Super-Resolution, AI Keywords, face recognition, AI Reverse Image Search and the AI subject, sky and background masks. Only the cloud-based generative tools, namely AI Image Generation, Generative Fill, Generative Edit and AI Remove, consume AI credits. ACDSee shows an estimated credit cost before each generation, and that cost depends on the selected model, output resolution and number of reference images. As a reference point, ACDSee rates a 20,000-credit pack at roughly 180 images at default settings. In the Professional edition, generative results are applied destructively, so it is sensible to run them on a copy rather than on the original file.

Which file formats and cameras does ACDSee 365 Silver support?

ACDSee Photo Studio Professional reads RAW files from more than 750 camera models, and ACD Systems adds new cameras through regular updates. Beyond RAW, it opens and saves JPEG XL, reads and writes static AVIF, displays animated WebP, handles GoPro RAW (.GPR) and decodes the HEIF images produced by iPhones. The 2027 release added support for JPEG XL compression inside DNG files, which keeps DNG archives smaller without leaving the format. PDFs can be viewed and printed in the same browser, which helps when client briefs or contact sheets sit in the same folders as the photos.

What makes ACDSee 365 Silver useful in daily work?

Its main value is the time saved between import and delivery. The Activity Manager runs imports, exports, batch conversions, face detection and keyword scanning in the background, so you can continue culling while these jobs run. Batch tools rename, resize, crop and watermark entire shoots, and AI Develop Presets analyze each photo individually instead of applying one fixed adjustment to every frame. Photos from a phone can be sent wirelessly to the PC with the ACDSee Mobile Sync app for iPhone and Android by scanning a QR code on the monitor.

What should you check before choosing ACDSee 365 Silver?

First confirm that you work on 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11, because this edition has no macOS version. Next decide whether you need layers: RAW development, retouching and Photomerge are covered, but multi-layer compositing is not. If you are moving from Lightroom, ACDSee can import face data from Lightroom and Picasa and works on your existing folders without a mandatory import. If you are upgrading from an older ACDSee version, settings and presets are only carried over automatically from Professional 2022 or later and only within the same edition, so a switch from Ultimate to Silver will not migrate them.

Frequently asked questions about ACDSee 365 Silver

Are my photos uploaded when I use AI features?

Only generative AI requests leave your PC; they are processed through Google's Gemini API, and ACDSee states that it does not store prompts, reference images or input images, keeping generated output for seven days for recovery only. All other AI functions, such as Denoise, AI Keywords and face recognition, process images locally.

Can I use Photoshop plug-ins in ACDSee 365 Silver?

Yes. Photo Studio Professional can import and apply Photoshop plug-ins in Edit mode, so existing filter plug-ins remain usable after switching.

Does ACDSee 365 Silver support LUT color grading?

Yes. Built-in color LUTs are included, and you can import your own LUT files and apply them as non-destructive filters in Develop mode.

Can I work with photos stored in OneDrive or Dropbox?

Yes. Dropbox and OneDrive sync folders appear as nodes in the Folders pane, and OneDrive files can stay online until you open them, which saves local disk space on large archives.
